Monica Lozano, publisher of La Opinion in Los Angeles, has been nominated to Bank of America’s board of directors. She will be one of a slate of 18 nominees that Bank of America shareholders will be asked to approve at its April 26 annual shareholders meeting in Charlotte.
“Monica Lozano is a successful entrepreneur and leading advocate for the Hispanic business community,” said Bank of America Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ken Lewis. “This, coupled with her outstanding record of community leadership in both California and across the nation, uniquely qualifies her as an ideal director for a company that is making such a large
impact in the financial lives of all Americans”.
This year, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights will award Lozano the prominent Hubert H. Humphrey Civil Rights Award, saluting individuals or organizations that best exemplify Vice President Humphrey’s legacy of “selfless and devoted service in the cause of equality.” In winning this year’s award, Lozano was commended for having “a profound effect on the way the nation’s fastest growing population thinks about issues related to civil and human rights.”
