“Premio Lo Nuestro,” the highest-rated special each season among Hispanics in the United States, bestows awards annually to the winners from the five most popular Latin music genres – Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban – and Video of the Year. Nominees were selected from charts compiled by the prominent recording industry trade magazine Radio & Records(R) . The 2007 telecast reached more than 11 million viewers. Year to year, it consistently beats the combined average Hispanic audiences of the Academy Awards, Latin Billboard Music Awards, Emmy Awards, MTV’s Video Music Awards and the Golden Globes, among all major demographics.
