MTV Tr3 takes on the clash of Latino Anglo Cultures in new image campaign.

MTV Tr3 takes a tongue-in-cheek look at how Latino and Anglo cultures clash and co-exist in its latest image campaign, “We Get You.” Created in collaboration with the Austin-based comedy troupe The Latino Comedy Project, the campaign explores everyday scenarios that are unique and relevant to young Latinos living in the U.S. and uses humor and wit to show how they live, react and tackle their bicultural lives.

“We Get You” is made up of eight stories that all play with themes that are close to young Latinos — family, religion, dating, passion, food, music and language. In one story, “Dorm Room,” a young Latino college student is surrounded by his Latino support system who feed him, iron his clothes and otherwise make sure he is as comfortable as can be as he studies while his Anglo roommate looks on with more than a twinge of jealousy. The spot “Abuela” plays up a young Latino’s ability to eat grandma’s good home cooking while his Anglo colleague heats up yet another frozen meal. “Mariachi” uncovers the rock ‘n’ roll side of members of a Mexican mariachi group as they let loose when they think no one is watching.

Amy Campbell, Vice President of the On-Air Promos Team that created the campaign explains that “We Get You” “reflects and reinforces the growing bicultural community we live in.”

Latino Comedy Project’s Adrian Villegas adds that ”anybody who knows Latinos knows that humor and laugher is a huge part of our culture. We were thrilled to collaborate with MTV’s On-Air Promos team for this campaign that really speaks the language of young Latinos.” The comedy troupe not only lent their Latino insights to the campaign but troupe members were also part of the cast in the promos.

“We Get You” can be seen on MTV Tr3s throughout December 2008.
