MTV Tr3´s takes to the streets.

MTV Tr3´s is hitting the streets of Los Angeles and other urban cities across the country to help viewers experience the best of today’s Indie, Latin Alternative and Latino urban music and the bands making it happen with two original productions, “INDIE 101,” a half-hour Indie and Latin Alternative music show debuting on January 15, 2007 at 11 PM Eastern and “Sucker Free Latino” a one-hour program dedicated to La Musica Urbana which starts on January 18 at 4:30 PM EST.

Both shows feature original soundtracks created by bands such as Kinky, the Grammy-nominated band who’s borderless funk is reflected their tune for “INDIE 101,” and Malverde, the West-Coast rapper who is best know for his meaningful messages, for “Sucker Free Latino.”

“Both ‘INDIE 101’ and ‘Sucker Free Latino’ give our audience a chance to discover and experience the great music being created in these exciting genres. The shows also allow us to collaborate with great Latino artists on the look, feel and sound of the shows. The musicians and hosts involved in both shows bring insight and perspective to their interviews, allowing our viewers an all-access pass to what musicians are really thinking,” says Lily Neumeyer, MTV Tr3´s vice president of programming and production.

In “INDIE 101,” host Marthin Chan, from the Grammy-nominated band Volumen Cero, combs the streets of Los Angeles neighborhoods sharing a combination of the best of the Indie and Latin Alternative music videos and quality time with his music buddies. The show’s first episode features Kinky giving viewers a glimpse of their new Los Angeles digs. Other bands featured in early editions of “INDIE 101” are Ozomatli, the L.A.-based pioneers of Spanish-English mash-ups of hip hop, salsa, cumbia, dub, and Middle Eastern funk, and Los Abandoned, the four-year-old band that has taken over the Los Angeles scene with their bilingual blend of hooky, high-energy pop/rock and retro sounds.

The new hour-long “Sucker Free Latino” is MTV Tr3´s’ exclusive connection to everything La Musica Urbana, from Rap to Hip-Hop to Reggaetón to Urban Bachata and everything in between. The weekly show takes current “Sucker Free Latino” host L.Boogs out of the studio and into the urban cities of the United States to hang out with today’s chart toppers like Fat Joe, A.B. Quintanilla and Luny Tunes. From East Coast to West Coast, “Sucker Free Latino” will give viewers an insider look on what thriving in the Latino urban scenes across America.

Both the Indie and the Urban scenes have strong footing with young U.S. Latinos, who are very passionate about their bands, both Latin and Anglo, according to Jose Tillán, MTV Tr3´s senior vice president of music programming and talent strategy. “There are countless bedroom rockers and rappers today that will hopefully become the voice of their generation. MTV Tr3´s is eager to give these artist and their music a platform to voice their creativity,” he said.
