Multicultural Women As A Economic Powerhouse.

In the United States, ethnic women are a younger, more economically active group than their Caucasian counterparts, holding $723 billion in combined purchasing power, according to “The U.S. Multicultural Women Market,” a new report by market research publisher Packaged Facts.

Comprising African-American, Asian and Hispanic women, the ethnic female population grew nearly 40% between 1995 and 2003, from 23 million to just over 32 million. By 2008, the population of multicultural women will grow to approximately 36 million, and they will wield more than $1 trillion in buying power, according to Packaged Facts.

Another aspect of the ethnic women’s market is its differences – both between multicultural women and White women, and amongst themselves. African American, Hispanic and Asian women as a group part from White women with respect to attitudes about dieting, advertising and the influence children should have in purchasing decisions. But they’re not a monolith, with each group having a unique perspective on many daily life events.

“Diversity is about more than ethnicity and race,” said Don Montuori, Acquisitions Editor for Packaged Facts. “The are remarkable differences in consumer behavior of Black, Hispanic, and Asian American women, with respect to health status, attitudes toward food, shopping behavior, use of cosmetics and other factors.”

“The U.S. Multicultural Women Market” is a unique report that mixes insight into the values and attitudes of today’s multicultural female with sales trends, marketing and advertising opportunities, assessments of media usage, and more. Forecasts are provided through 2008.
