mun2 announces ‘The New America’.

mun2 announced its 2010 news special, “The New America.” The special is the centerpiece to a year-long, multi-platform campaign raising awareness around the Census and highlighting the changing face of a new America. Jacqueline Hernandez, Chief Operating Officer, Telemundo, and actor John Leguizamo, who is featured in the one-hour special, will reveal an exclusive clip of “The New America” at the NGLC Conference on Monday, April 5th in New York City.

“In a uniquely American voice, mun2 will depict what we call the New America through this special that tells the inspirational story of Latinos today and our growing impact on society, culture and trends,” says Hernandez.

“With the official count adjusting to the changing US Hispanic demographic, this is the ideal time to frame what this means for the US Latino population and the broader population as a whole,” says Flavio Morales, SVP Programming & Production for mun2.

Mimi Valdes Ryan, Editor-in-Chief of Latina Magazine, joins as Co-Executive Producer of the news special. Hosted by comedian/actor Anjelah Johnson, “The New America” presents prominent figures including John Leguizamo, Jencarlos Canela (Telemundo’s Mas Sabe el Diablo), Allison Iraheta (American Idol pop star), Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta Falcons), Maria Celeste (Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo), Aaron Sanchez (Celebrity Chef and Food Network star), and Dr. Quinones Hinojosa (renowned neurosurgeon), as they each share their inspiring journey to achieving the American Dream.

The hour-long special is fueled by a mosaic of stories illustrating this important time in the US and the next sea of change expected in the 2010 Census. Driven by exclusive interviews and compelling data, the special takes viewers across America and goes beyond the Census numbers to present the rich and diverse lives of Latinos today.

As part of the network’s “you’re on” experience, viewers will be prompted to submit their own American stories on holamun2.com/america. These viewer-submitted profiles will live online and on-air as short form vignettes.
