mun2, the bilingual network that celebrates the lifestyle of Latino young adults, kicks off 2006 with impressive year-to-year growth across all key dayparts among the highly-coveted demo of P12-34, validating the new programming strategy implemented October 1, 2005.
Based on ratings results provided by Nielsen Media Research for their National Hispanic Television Index (NHTI), mun2’s fourth quarter ’05 ratings show impressive growth from fourth quarter ’04. In the first available measure of performance since the network’s major transformation and re-launch on October 1, mun2 registered gains among P12-34 for all key time periods including:
-plus 100% growth in M-F Morning (9a – 12p) and M-F Daytime (12p – 2p)
-plus 150% plus among M-F Fringe (5p – 7p) and +33% in M-F Prime (7p – 9p)
-plus 88% in Sat Fringe (4p – 6p) and +38% in Sat Prime (7p – 9p)
-plus 150% in Sun Fringe (5p – 7p) and +38% in Sun Prime (7p – 9p)
“Our ratings performance makes it clear that our new programming strategy is right on target and that our commitment to giving viewers what they want is really connecting with them,” said Alex Pels, general manager, mun2. “We’re kicking off 2006 proving that our channel is moving in the right direction, and we’ve only just begun.”
For the week of January 16 2006, the “18 and Over” (Friday 8-10p) special telecast of the top 50 videos of 2005 was the #1-ranked program for the network with an average audience of 92,000 impressions among P12-34, beating key competitors including top music networks MTV, MTV2, VH1 and BET. Among young Hispanics, mun2 nearly doubled MTV, almost tripled the audience of MTV2, virtually delivered seven times more P12-34 than VH1, and reached nearly nine times additional viewers than BET.
The “18 and Over” special telecast performance was superseded less than one week later by another hit for the network—the recently-acquired WWE RAW. Delivering the network’s strongest performance yet, the show reached its highest-to-date ratings on Wednesday, January 25 with an average audience of 112,000 among P12-34, beating out Galavision and Fox Sports En Español. Wednesday’s performance made mun2 the #1 network among Spanish-language cable nets in the P12-34 arena and #3 among all English-language cable networks.
