mun2 Relocates To Los Angeles.
May 21, 2005
mun2, Telemundo’s bilingual cable network, announced that it will relocate its headquarters to Los Angeles, CA from its current base in Miami, FL. The strategic move is part of a plan to solidify the Latino youth network’s position in the largest U.S. Hispanic market, while gaining greater access to an unparalleled pool of entertainment and industry leaders. Over the next few months all Mun2 divisions will be relocated and re-engineered into a new organizational structure in Los Angeles as part of an ongoing plan to reenergize its programming, while continuing its dominance in the Latino Youth marketplace. Executive and Technical Operations departments will remain headquartered in Miami, FL.
“mun2 is evolving and expanding, and Los Angeles is the ideal backdrop to position ourselves for growth,” said Antoinette Zel, Senior Executive Vice President Network Strategy. “In LA, we will strengthen our position in the Latino Youth marketplace by creating a significant presence in the number one Hispanic city in the U.S.. We will build on our strong foundation with Latino young adults by capitalizing on synergies with NBC Universal and by tapping into one of the most exciting and creative entertainment communities.”
The move will be executed over the next few months with an expectation that it be fully implemented by October 1, 2005. A concerted effort is underway to ensure that all affected employees are given access to the vast resources and opportunities that GE, NBC Universal and Telemundo have to offer.
The ultimate goal of this relocation is to cement mun2’s connection with and relevancy to its target audience, both in and outside of Los Angeles. With more than two million of the 17 million young Latino adults in the 12 to 34 year old demographic living in Los Angeles, a presence in this city lays the groundwork for meeting this goal.
Future programming and talent considerations will also benefit from the move, since Los Angeles is home to a vast pool of established and up-and-coming Latino artists and celebrities. Similarly, mun2 will capitalize on the stellar group of executive, creative and production professionals in the area to enhance the quality of production and the caliber of its executive team.
