mun2 & Telemundo on Comcast.

NBC Universal announced it has reached a long-term carriage agreement with Comcast to launch in April mun2, the preeminent voice for Latino youth in America, on the majority of its digital cable television lineups. In addition, Telemundo, the number two Hispanic broadcaster in the U.S., will be added to the Comcast systems in Seattle and Detroit in April.

As part of the agreement, Comcast will be able to offer programming for both mun2 and Telemundo on its signature On Demand service. mun2 On Demand will be comprised of various programs, including “The Chicas Project” and news specials. Telemundo On Demand will feature episodes from a variety of the network’s current telenovelas.

“This deal is a huge win for Comcast and NBC Universal,” said Baker. “mun2’s edgy and award-winning bilingual programs and Telemundo’s sizzling telenovelas appeal to Comcast’s diverse customer base.”

“Comcast is committed to delivering programming that reflects the diverse interests of our customers, and mun2 and Telemundo feature exciting programming that is relevant and appealing,” said David Jensen, Vice President of Content Acquisition for Comcast. “We’re also thrilled to have the opportunity to offer mun2 and Telemundo On Demand, allowing our customers the flexibility to watch what they want, when they want.”

“mun2 serves the bilingual youth market, the fastest growing segment in the U.S. Hispanic population, making it one of Telemundo’s key growth platforms. The talent and cutting-edge performance of the mun2 team have been spectacular; they have clearly connected with their audience,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo.

“This deal is a significant milestone for mun2, and a great payoff after two years of extensive creative recognition and ratings success,” said Alex Pels, General Manager, mun2. “As we take this next step in the network’s evolution, we’re excited that so many more viewers will have access to the mun2 brand and the fresh content we’re creating for the underserved bicultural market.”
