mun2 televisión Internship Drive Targeting Hispanic College Students.

mun2 televisión announced the nationwide launch of the first internship program in the entertainment industry, specifically aimed at young Hispanic college students. Beginning next summer, u>mun2 will provide Hispanic youth with an opportunity to receive practical training in marketing, public relations and production in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso, initially. In addition, the program constitutes a marketing strategy aimed at reinforcing mun2’s brand positioning in the Hispanic segment, ages 18 to 25.

“We are delighted to provide our Hispanic students with the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the entertainment industry while meeting their college requirements. We are very focused on expanding the presence of young Latinos in the entertainment industry,” said Yolanda Foster, Vice President of Programming with mun2 television.

In addition, the aim of mun2 is to foster the development of new Hispanic talent and to promote the community spirit among young Hispanics in the United States.

These initiatives take on an even greater significance in a country such as the United States where, according to Hispanic Scholarship Fund figures, only 11 out of every 100 Hispanics have a college degree compared with the national average of 28 %, and where it is estimated that Hispanics will account for 17% of the U.S. population under 18 by 2005.

Students accepted into the u>mun2 program will carry out a demanding work schedule during the academic semester for which they will receive college credit. Divided into various teams, they will devote between 15 and 25 hours weekly to their professional training, learning to promote a cable television network in their respective markets while interacting with students in other markets.

To assess the development of students participating in the program, a mun2 advisory board has been created, made up of leading communications professionals, including Nelly Galán, President of California-based Galan Entertainment, and a widely experienced producer; William Adams M.A, Associate Professor of Public Relations, Florida International University; Gonzalo R. Soruco, Associate Professor of Advertising and Public Relations, University of Miami; Terry Hernández Rosales, Director of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, an organization that has secured over 45 thousand scholarships for Hispanics in its 27 years’ history; Beatriz de la Torre, Marketing Manager at MiGente.com, the fastest-growing English-speaking Latin
community in the Internet, as well as representatives of Telemundo and mun2 televisión. In addition, mun2 enjoys the support of strategic partnerships with Hispanic Scholarship Fund and migente.com.
