February 22, 2004
Miami’s “Calle 8” got an urban taste during this past weekend’s event when mun2 television took over Telemundo’s stage with its own opening act, featuring performances by “Don Omar”, “Habana Squad”, “Aldo Ranks”, “Trivales” and “Alberto Stylee”. mun2 television’s “Calle 8” special will air Saturday, March 27 at 10pm et/pt.
Some of the best names in Reggaeton joined together in an exposé of this unique rhythm. The line-up of artists included renowned reggaeton sensation “Don Omar”, who launched his first solo album last year titled “The Last Don;” Habana Squad, a group well known for strong lyrics that portray the odyssey and reality of the Cuban people; Puerto Rican singer Alberto Stylee, one of the pioneers of reggaeton; Aldo Ranks, whose album “Diferente” placed him as the first Panamenian artist to launch under the Universal Music label, and newcomer Reggaeton group Trivales.
The special will be hosted by “The Roof” anchors Melanie Byron, Frankie Needles, and Felix Sama.
“mun2 brought together five of the most renowned reggaeton artists to Calle 8, and now viewers all over the nation will be able to enjoy their music,” said Yolanda Foster, Vice President of Programming at mun2 television.
