mun2 wins Imagen Award.

mun2 won “Best Web Series” for its original online program “Black and Latino,” and celebrated Jenni Rivera, star of the networks’ #1 Hispanic celebrity reality series “I Love Jenni, as she received the President’s Award at the 27th annual Imagen Awards. This was the second year in a row that mun2 has received an Imagen Award for “Best Web Series.” The ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday, August 10.

“Black & Latino” was a digital documentary produced by mun2’s digital team that explored how Latinos are changing the way America understands race and ethnicity. Featuring interviews with such Latino entertainment figureheads of African-American heritage were MSNBC’s Soledad O’Brien, Christina Milian (“The Voice”), Laz Alonso (Avatar), Judy Reyes (“Scrubs”), Tatyana Ali (“Fresh Prince of Bel Air”) and many more.

In addition to its win, the network enjoyed nominations for “I Love Jenni” and “From Beyond” in the Best Variety or Reality Show category, and “Cristian Castro: Mi Historia” for Best Primetime Program: Special or Movie-of-the-Week. The Imagen (‘image’ in Spanish) Awards honors positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino culture in entertainment.
