mun2 & Yahoo! Telemundo launch new Pepsi Música.

mun2 has joined forces with Pepsi and Yahoo! Telemundo to launch an all-new version of “Pepsi Música,” a bicoastal and multiplatform production highlighting the best in music, lifestyle and youth culture. Featuring live musical performances, celebrity guests, user-generated content and a weekly video countdown with today’s hottest English and Spanish-language videos battling for the top spot, the show will bring viewers non-stop interactive entertainment.

The mun2 premiere of Pepsi Musica on February 1, 2008 will feature international superstar Enrique Iglesias and Venezuelan singer-songwriter Jeremias. The weekly two-hour show will be produced live from mun2 studios in both Miami and Los Angeles and shot in front of a studio audience.

“The bicultural youth space is at a tipping point, and mun2’s partnership with Pepsi and Yahoo! Telemundo on a show of this magnitude is a great indication of the potential of this marketplace and mun2’s ability to reach it in a culturally relevant way,” said Alex Pels, general manager, mun2. “We’re excited to grow alongside this evolving audience by creating a show that will engage our viewers on all levels with interactive and exciting content that defines today’s bicultural youth.”

“Pepsi Música is going to be bigger and even more exciting this year with the help of mun2 and Yahoo! Telemundo,” said Gustavo Perez, director of multicultural marketing, Pepsi-Cola North America. “This show is really for the fans and now there will be a number of opportunities for them to shape the look and feel of each episode.”

As part of a 360-degree multi-platform strategy, the show will also have a presence on sister network Telemundo, with a customized “Pepsi Música” segment set to air within the Telemundo programs “Nitido” and “Cine Nuestro.” In addition, through a strategic partnership with Yahoo! Telemundo, mun2 viewers will be able to directly influence the program’s content by visiting www.pepsimusica.com where they can vote for their favorite videos and submit user-generated content via mobile and web.

Pepsi will re-launch the Pepsi Música experience on Yahoo! Telemundo, accessible at pepsimusica.com. The site will feature the weekly Top 20 videos and various social components that will allow users to vote for their favorite music videos, add new artists to the countdown, comment on the weekly show, and submit images or video clips for broadcast. The site, set to launch January 30, 2008, will also feature media-rich entertainment such as the Pepsi Música video player with clips and music videos seen on the show and the Pepsi Música radio station with streaming play lists. The Pepsi Música “Question of the Week” and the “Viewers Choice Web Poll” will further converge on-air and online content and commentary, encouraging daily online engagement.

“Pepsi Música is an integral part of Yahoo! Telemundo’s music offering and we are excited to be able to build upon our successful four-year relationship with Pepsi to provide our users with a more engaging and interactive way to experience their favorite music,” said Adam Chandler, executive director, U.S. Sales, Yahoo! Hispanic Americas. “Together with mun2 we are also able to deliver a comprehensive cross-platform advertising solution that allows Pepsi to follow the consumer as they migrate between mediums, particularly significant because half of online U.S. Hispanics already go online while watching TV*.”

“The all-new Pepsi Música is a perfect representation of the marketing partnership approach mun2, Telemundo and Yahoo! Telemundo communicated during this year’s upfront,” added Joe Bernard, VP of mun2 Sales. “We worked closely with Pepsi to create a program that engages our young Latino market with TV, digital, marketing and retail touch points.”

Set to air each Friday from 5 to 7PM EST, Pepsi Música will be hosted by a bilingual host and feature a guest DJ, which will soon be announced. The show will be centered on a top 20 video countdown, and also feature news segments, entertainment trivia, artist profiles, video premieres, and in-studio contests and giveaways.
