Lexicon Marketing’s newest website, www.mundosinbarreras.com, enhances its content to include the Coca-Cola sponsored Latino sin Barreras contest, and welcomes Katie Barberi as one of its newest members.
“Mundo sin Barreras is an environment where Latinos can access informative and life-enhancing content providing concrete information that will transform their lives in the United States in a positive way. Our goal is to provide the Hispanic community with a source for education and new opportunities,” said Valeria Rico, CEO of Lexicon Marketing.
“Mundo sin Barreras is greatly focused on Latinos and their personal struggles and endeavors in the United States, ” said Katie Barberi, a Mexican-born telenovela actress best known for her role as Cecilia Vergel in Doña Bárbara. Barberi joined Mundo sin Barreras, a platform she considers essential, in September to share with friends what she has been doing.
The web-portal is an educational and empowering website for Spanish-speakers who seek more resourceful Spanish-language web content than the usual gossip and Hollywood-style entertainment. Mundo sin Barreras is designed to assist Hispanics in the United States to improve their lives by providing them free access to English language lessons, a board-certified immigration attorney, health and technology information and more.
Mundo sin Barreras has grown organically into a safe place for users to share and empathize with others about their experiences, hardships and triumphs. This led to the creation of Latino sin Barreras, a contest Coca-Cola will sponsor, where users submit stories detailing their successes in the U.S. and win prizes.
“The hardest was learning the language,” said Yolaisy, a contestant who overcame the challenge and who now writes that she is happy because she can help her father. “Now I am not afraid of anything and I am up to continuing to overcome challenges because I believe nothing is impossible.”
In line with Lexicon’s mission of enriching the lives of Hispanics and President Barack Obama’s initiative to ensure that Americans have access to technology, Mundo sin Barreras provides a unique platform for Hispanics to learn, overcome technological barriers and connect to the rest world.
Mundo sin Barreras is comprised of channels designed with practical and culturally relevant content and community-building elements.
– Educación/Education – The education channel provides free weekly English lessons based on Lexicon’s best-selling ESL program Inglés sin Barreras. Users submit their questions to Profesor Raimundo who answers queries related to the English language. Interactive games at the bottom of the page help users reinforce what they learn.
– Tecnologia/Technology – Tecnologia features Edgar the Geek, a live, technology guru to whom users submit technology-related questions. Recent inquiries include how to scan without access to the Internet, Skype-usage, and details about the Playstation release.
– Dinero/Money – Dinero provides users with a broader understanding of the complex American financial system and available government resources.
– Salud/Health – Salud describes a variety of medical topics of frequent interest to Hispanic such as diabetes, general wellness, and vaccines. Secretos de la abuela (grandma’s secrets) are brief, home-remedies for weight loss, hair loss, cramps and more.
– USA para ti / USA for you – This channel focuses on specific content for immigrants to the United States such as free access to a board-certified immigration attorney, the latest news on immigration laws, and articles and links to government resources such as income tax information, public libraries, Medicare’s Spanish-language site, and more.
“Spanish-speakers new to the Internet may miss out on opportunities because they feel overwhelmed by the technology. We created a site that is user-friendly with content that is relevant to our community” said Karissa Price, vice president of Growth Initiatives at Lexicon Marketing.
