National Association Of Broadcasters Fellowships.

Four NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) Professional Fellowships now are available to qualified candidates of color and women to attend the NAB Management Development Seminar for Television Executives (MDS).

The NABEF Fellowship Program was developed to promote diversity and inclusiveness, to increase the pool of qualified broadcasters from minority groups who, to date, may not have been fully represented at the management level. This program is made possible through the support of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, which provided eight television fellowships, four of which are still available. Olaniyi Areke, director, WHUT-TV Washington, DC, a 2004 program fellowship recipient said about his experience, “The MDS is the best thing that has happened to my career in the last twenty-one years. The material presented was ‘A’ class. I have brought back a wealth of information that will not only transform me, but will also have an everlasting effect on my colleagues.”

The MDS provides attendees professional business skills that prepare them for the next steps in their careers. The course count towards a station’s required number of outreach activities under EEO rules. MDS will be held July 24-29, 2005 at Northwestern University.
