New GMs for Telemundo Miami & LA.

Telemundo announced the appointment of Manuel Martinez, to Vice President and General Manager of WSCV in Miami, and Jose Valle, to Vice President and General Manager of KVEA in Los Angeles. The announcements were made jointly by Don Browne, President, Telemundo and Ibra Morales, President of Telemundo Stations Group.
“These appointments conclude and extensive search to fill two key positions in the Telemundo station group. These are important strategic moves that will help strengthen our stations and network partnership, “said Browne.
“Manuel and Jose are proven professionals and have the leadership skills to continue the momentum of growth that both stations have achieved, “said Morales.
Valle will be based in Los Angeles and lead KVEA, which in 2007, won two AP Journalism Awards, a Golden Mike award for its 11pm news program, En Contexto, and the prestigious 2007 Emmy Governors Award for Civic and Community Involvement. It is also the first Spanish-language station to launch in high definition in the market
Previously, Martinez served as Vice President and General Manager at WNJU in New York, the second largest Hispanic market. Under his leadership, the station experienced significant ratings growth and broke numerous sales records. It also won its first Emmy Award and launched the award-winning late news Noticiero 47, along with the local entertainment program Sábado 47. Martinez also served as the Executive Vice President of Programming and Production for the Telemundo Network before his appointment as General Manager of WNJU in January 2004.
Martinez has been honored with numerous awards for his commitment to community involvement. Recognized in the “Congressional Record” by Congressman Bob Menendez (D-NJ) for his achievements as a broadcaster, he was awarded the Congressional Pin and continued to make enormous contributions to the Hispanic community through his local involvement. Most recently, he received the prestigious “El Award” from El Diario Newspaper Group, where he was recognized as one of the 20 most influential Hispanics in the tri-state area.
Valle had been named General Manager of KXTX in Dallas in May 2002. During his tenure in the sixth largest Hispanic market, the station earned numerous prestigious industry nominations, including a local area Emmy nomination for “Overall Station Excellence in 2004”. Prior to this role, Valle served as Vice-President of Sales for Amigo Broadcasting in Dallas, Texas. Valle began his career in broadcast media in 1989, as an Account Executive for Hispanic Broadcasting Corporate (HBC) in Los Angeles, California, where he was raised. In 1994, he assumed the Vice-President & General Manager role for HBC in Las Vegas, Nevada where he provided operational leadership until his transfer in 1998 to Vice-President and General Manager for HBC in Dallas, Texas.
