Newsweek & Latinas.

The Women and Leadership Conference, organized by Newsweek Magazine, included four Latinas, two of them from the marketing and communications industry: Daisy Exposito-Ulla, former Chairman of the Bravo Group and Christy Haubegger, founder of Latina Magazine and now Creative Artists’ Agency. Exposito-Ulla and Haubegger participated in the Newsweek Advisory Committee.

The event, held October 18 at New York’s Historical Society, is part of Newsweek’s “Leadership for the 21st Century” series, and it coincided with the magazine’s 24 October issue which features TV personality Oprah Winfrey, Chairman of Harpo, Inc. The cover story special report, titled “How Women Lead,” features twenty of America’s Most Powerful Women, among them Maria Elena Lagomasino, former Chairman/CEO of J.P. Morgan Private Bank, and Maria Otero, a Nonprofit CEO who puts small amounts of capital in the hands of Latino women.

The panel moderator was Katie Couric, co-anchor of NBC’s “Today Show.”
