Telemundo’s star, María Celeste Arraras was named as one of the 20 top women on leadership by Newsweek magazine. In addition, María Celeste makes history by becoming the first Hispanic TV personality to appear on the cover of the magazine, in the September 25th issue, which is released worldwide today. María Celeste shares the publication’s cover with award-winning actress and singer Queen Latifah, and Google.com executive Marissa Mayer.

María Celeste was chosen after a competitive and rigorous process, in which the editors of the magazine selected the 20 most prominent women in the fields of education, technology, business, and sports, among others. The anchor of “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste” was selected as a leader in broadcast journalism for this special edition of the magazine entitled “Women and Leadership: The Next Generation, 20 Powerful Women on How to Take Charge.”

“I am honored to be part of this group of remarkable women that I very much admire and respect,” said María Celeste.

María Celeste was invited to speak at a panel during Newsweek’s Women & Leadership Conference to be held in New York City tomorrow, September 19th. Moderated by the new face of NBC’s “Today” show, Meredith Vieira, the panel includes six influential women who will discuss various ways to secure that the next generation of women achieve success.

Recognized with a national Emmy for her journalistic career, Maria Celeste is not only one of Hispanic television’s most recognized personalities, but she has also garnered great popularity in the English-speaking market. Her participation on NBC network shows includes: “Today” and the prestigious news magazine “Dateline.”

“Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste” (5pm eastern/pacific) is broadcast by Telemundo, and in one hour, it takes viewers around the world, exploring a great variety of topics including daily news, immigration issues, health, sports, entertainment and consumer information. “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste” airs coast to coast in the United States and in 15 Latin American countries.
