Nielsen Media Hispanic TV Service Launches In Denver.

Nielsen Media Research announced plans to extend Hispanic television measurement to the Denver television market in November 2003. This will bring Nielsen’s local Hispanic service, called Nielsen Hispanic Station Index (NHSI), into 19 local television markets. NHSI samples consist entirely of Spanish- and English-speaking Hispanic television homes and are separate from Nielsen’s general market samples in the same markets.

Starting in November 2003, clients subscribing to the Denver ratings report will receive local ratings books following each of the four major sweep months – February, May, July and November. All ratings estimates will be derived from diaries completed by randomly selected Hispanic homes.

Clients participating in the new Hispanic service in Denver include KCEC-TV, the Univision affiliate, and KTFD-TV the TeleFutura affiliate. Both stations are owned by Entravision.

Currently Nielsen has separate Hispanic samples in 18 local markets across the U.S. The addition of Denver in November 2003 brings the total markets to nineteen. Denver is the 16th ranked Hispanic television market and the 18th ranked market among all TV homes. The Denver market has a 13% Hispanic penetration, or 183,740 Hispanic TV homes.
