Nielsen’s NSI May Survey shows KVEA-TV/Telemundo LA among the leaders in many key time periods in demographic data released last week.
Continuing its trend of increased ratings, KVEA came closer to the English language stations in the coveted news time periods in the recently released May 2001 demographic ratings.
Telemundo’s Ocurrió Así at 5pm delivered higher ratings among all persons demos than any of the three English network affiliates, each with their own newscasts in the time period. Among Persons 18-49, Ocurrió Así maintained a 2.1 rating / 11 share, overshadowing the ratings of KABC’s 5p Eyewitness News (1.4 / 7), KNBC’s Channel 4 News at 5pm (0.9 / 5) and KCBS’ CBS2 News at 5pm (0.3 / 2). The Spanish language newscasts at both 5pm and 6pm ranked #1 and #2 respectively, leading all English language competitors.
At 6pm, KVEA’s Noticiero 52 finished in third place among Persons 18-49 with a 1.4 rating / 6 share, just behind KABC’s Eyewitness News at 6pm (1.9 / 8) and ahead of KNBC’s Channel 4 News at 6pm (1.2 / 5) and KCBS’ CBS2 News at 6pm (0.5 / 2).
At 11pm, KVEA’s Noticiero 52 doubled its Persons 18-49 rating over the May 2000 survey, to a 1.0 rating / 4 share, up from a 0.5 / 2 last year.
Additionally, KVEA retains the #1 spot in Los Angeles in Daytime Talk with Laura en America. This May among Persons 18-49, Laura’s 2.1 rating was the highest, followed by KABC’s Oprah Winfrey (1.9), KCOP’s Ricki Lake (1.8), and KMEX’s Cristina (1.4).
KVEA’s ratings having been growing significantly for over a year and is now showing increases upon the increases it had experienced already this time last year.
