Northgate González Market launches “FAMILIA FÚTBOL”

Northgate González Market is betting on something no brand can buy for the World Cup: CULTURE. With Familia Fútbol, the Southern California grocery chain is launching a fully integrated campaign built not on sponsorship rights, but on nearly five decades of connection with Latino families and fútbol fans. The campaign debuts April 8 across broadcast, streaming, and digital channels with activations running through the World Cup Final on July 19, 2026.

Timed to Mexico’s opening of the tournament at Estadio Azteca, Familia Fútbol positions Northgate Market as a cultural hub for how Latino communities experience the World Cup, through food, family, and shared tradition.

“Fútbol is more than a game for our community; it’s a way we connect across generations, creating memories rooted in pride, culture, and tradition,” said Alexandra Bolaños, Northgate González director of Brand. “At Northgate Market, we’re honored to play a role in those moments by bringing families together through the food they love. There’s no better way to celebrate the World Cup than with great botanas like chicharrón, fresh guacamole, totopos and carne asada shared with the people you love.”

Rather than leaning on traditional sponsorship models, the campaign is built on a simple insight: the most authentic connection to the World Cup lives inside Latino households.

At the center of the campaign is a bold creative approach that reframes cultural icons as family archetypes. This campaign features Mexican legends, including boxing champion Julio César Chávez, legendary goalkeeper Jorge Campos, luchador El Hijo del Santo, beloved actress and entertainer Angélica María, and Scarlett Camberos, Mexican women’s national team star and digital powerhouse. This star roster is complete with the iconic Pedro Infante, whose legacy provides emotional warmth and nostalgia.

“At its core, this campaign celebrates family and food, while also honoring the González family and Northgate for the meaningful role they play in supporting and uplifting our California community,” said Edoardo Chavarin, the creative director for the Familia Fútbol campaign and well-known brand creative strategist.

The Familia Fútbol hero spot, directed by Eduardo Avila of Hazlo Mango Films, captures what happens off the soccer field– families gathering, food being prepared, and the shared emotion of watching the game together.

“What I loved about this project is that it centers on flavor. The flavor of the food, which is what Northgate is known for, and the flavors that bring families together around the table,” said Avila.
