NUVOtv gets ready to ‘Stand Up & Deliver’ with Comedy.

NUVOtv announced plans to develop a more robust slate of comedy series and specials to be added to its current programming line-up. The announcement was made today by Bill Hilary, the network’s recently-appointed head of programming.

NUVOtv’s first push into expanding its comedy slate begins with Stand Up & Deliver; an original comedy series premiering Tuesday April 2 at 10 PM ET. The fast paced stand-up showcase features some of the brightest stars and up & coming talent on the comedy scene today – with a Latino and multicultural spin. Hilary, an award-winning programming executive and Comedy Central veteran, plans to use Stand Up & Deliver as a launching pad to introduce more comedy programming to the network’s schedule and audience.

“Comedy will be a key part of our overall strategy going forward. Comedy is integral to young American Latino culture. It is a uniting force that brings people together,” Hilary said. “NUVOtv will become a showcase for new comedic talent; a place where new stars will emerge.”

Also included in the upcoming comedy lineup will be a one-hour special starring popular standup comic and internet sensation Anjelah Johnson (“MADtv,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Ugly Betty”) that will premiere this summer. Hilary also added that the network is in talks with major comedy suppliers for a deal to create more stand-up programming, one-off network events and tours.

Details on NUVOtv’s comedy initiative and other new 2013-14 programming will be unveiled at the network’s May 15 Upfront presentation in NYC (Edison Ballroom, 6PM ET).
