September 8, 2009
Ogilvy announced that LatinRED, its Hispanic professional network group will host “La Feria” for its employees, clients, and the neighboring community today to salute Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15th.
LatinRED’s first annual La Feria, which translates into “the fair” offers an opportunity for everyone to be “Hispanic for a Day” and celebrates the Latin Heritage with the Ogilvy family network. The event is dedicated to providing support and education to all employees who identify with Latin culture and the community, and will showcase various countries of Latin origin such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and more.
The La Feria event will be freeform, with various stations representing a sampling of Latin countries. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the ‘essence’ of the various cultures by tasting different cuisines and beverages provided by neighborhood restaurants from various Latin countries, listening and dancing to music, viewing sample exhibits by Museo del Barrio and Repertorio Espanol, and enjoying live entertainment such as Capoeira — an Afro-Brazilian martial art performed by Nacao Capoeira, dance performances by Piel Canela Dance Company, and acts from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe.
“Ogilvy, as an organization, has always been diversified. We embrace all cultures and all people… it is what makes us creative. It is what
makes us who we are… and it is the very principle in which we were founded. Further, LatinRED is another example of Ogilvy’s expertise all
under one umbrella. This is a day in which I am proud to be Hispanic… for a day,” said John Seifert, Chairman, Ogilvy & Mather North America.
“National Hispanic Heritage Month (and diversity) is something that we live everyday. With LatinRED and La Feria, we have an opportunity to give back to our employees, our partners, and community and celebrate together,” said Gunther Schumacher, Chief Operating Officer, Ogilvy & Mather North America and Executive Sponsor of LatinRED. “We are incredibly passionate and committed to LatinRED and the other professional groups we have, because it not only supports the common interests of both our employees and clients, but also that of the community.”
