December 15, 2001
A true staple of Spanish-language television, no programming line-up could be complete without the ever-popular “novelas” that so captivate the attention of Hispanics. These uniquely enticing long-term drama series provide some of the best entertainment on television, describing stories of love, greed, power – and that’s just the first episode. Add to this, the fact that TeleFutura has carefully chosen from among the best selection of novelas produced in Latin America, and the result is an unmatched array of programs that can’t be beat. Airing both in the morning and in the afternoon, TeleFutura’s novelas will feature the scenes, the story lines, and the actors, that Hispanic viewers have come to expect from a top-quality network.
Appearing every Monday through Friday at 6:00 PM/5 Central will be the Colombian novela entitled “El Inútil” (“The Useless One”), a story about a young man whose carefree lifestyle ends when his parents threaten to disinherit him unless he straightens out his disorderly life and gets married. His hunt for a suitable mate becomes complicated when he realizes that his recent love interest and his past flame are actually related. Immediately preceding this tale every weekday at 5:00 PM/4 Central is “Mariú,” an intriguing story about a young woman whose life is forever altered when she is mistakenly implicated in the death of an innocent bystander during a store robbery. Scared and confused, Mariú flees the scene, never having to revisit that horrible incident again until fate brings her into contact with the deceased lady’s husband and the two fall in love, leaving into question whether their relationship can survive when all is discovered.
Every Monday through Friday at 4:00 PM/3 Central will be “Carita Pintada” (“Painted Face”) which will enthrall audiences with its engaging story line. Produced by Radio Caracas Television, this intriguing novela traces the life of a beautiful woman named Aurora, who is taken away from her mother at birth. The two never meet until Aurora unknowingly becomes a model for her mother’s line of clothing and the truth begins to unfold. Earlier in the afternoon, money, power, and politics play a major role in another great novela entitled “Mujer Secreta” (“Woman of Secrets”) which will air weekdays at 3:00 PM/2 Central. In this fascinating story, a powerful entrepreneur finds himself drawn to a younger woman whose own life is marred by an abusive relationship and a forbidden passion for a secret love.
Mornings on TeleFutura will feature two spectacular back-to-back novelas that daily leave viewers on the edge of their seats anxiously awaiting more. “Isabella…Mujer Enamorada” (“Isabella…a Woman in Love”) is an epic romance set in the 1930s that will air Monday through Friday at 11:00 AM/10 Central. It tells the story of twin sisters who are separated at birth, but whose destinies are forever tied together, not solely because of their blood relationship, but because of their love for the same man. This powerful tale will be preceded by “Cambio de Piel” (“Change of Skin”), which will air weekdays at 10:00 AM/9 Central. Produced in Venezuela, this novela describes the lives of two young individuals who become involved in a forbidden romance, which in turn unleashes a series of events that ultimately threatens to destroy their happiness.
