Osuna To Receive “Taub” Award For Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.

The Boxing Writer’s Association of America will recognize Bernardo Osuna, renowned sportscaster and boxing announcer for TeleFutura’s weekly program, “Solo Boxeo” (“Just Boxing”), with the prestigious Sam Taub Award for excellence in broadcast journalism. The “TAUB” Award will be presented to Osuna on Friday, April 16 at the 79th Annual Award Ceremony in New York City.

Born in Mexico and a graduate of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, Osuna started his television career as a sports segment producer for Univision’s Los Angeles affiliate, KMEX-TV Channel 34, where he was shortly thereafter promoted to KMEX Sports Director. In 1996, he began as commentator for West Coast boxing and soccer events on the Univision Network, joining the “Solo Boxeo” team in August of 2000. “Solo Boxeo” and Osuna then moved over to TeleFutura when the network launched in January 2002. Since that time, Osuna has been hosting “Solo Boxeo” with fellow sportscaster Ricardo Celis.

“For me it is a great honor to represent ‘Solo Boxeo’ and the TeleFutura Network. Moreover, it is an important milestone in
Spanish-language journalism to be recognized with the prestigious award of sportscaster of the year,” said Bernardo Osuna.

Osuna’s professional achievements include 3 Emmy awards, 7 Golden Mic awards by the Radio and TV News Association of Southern California and a Journalist of the Year award by the World Boxing Association in 1997.

“Solo Boxeo” can be seen every Friday at 9pm ET (8pm Central/Mountain) only on TeleFutura, America’s Fastest Growing Spanish-Language Network.
