Five-time Copa Libertadores champion Boca Juniors of Argentina looks to build on an impressive 3-0 road victory against Peru’s Sporting Cristal when it travels to Mexico to face “Los Tuzos” of Pachuca. On Wednesday, March 2nd, the “Xeneizes,” playing at their highest level in some time and fighting the high altitudes of Lima, overpowered Sporting Cristal. Led by veteran Argentine striker Martin Palermo, who scored two goals, Boca sent a loud message that they want to celebrate their centenary with another Copa Libertadores championship. Meanwhile, Pachuca anxiously awaits to prove it belongs in this prestigious tournament.
The Mexican squad is coming off a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Deportivo Cuenca of Ecuador. Boca Juniors represents the toughest test yet for the Mexican team led by head coach Jose Luis Trejo, who took Cruz Azul to the championship game of the 2001 Copa Libertadores against Boca Juniors. Trejo will have another shot at Boca this Wednesday on their home turf. Both teams will come out in search of the win and the three points that will move them to the top of Group 8.
