Padrón is GAIM for a New Chapter in His Leadership Career

By Cameron Coats

Otto Padrón, who led Los Angeles-based Meruelo Media for nearly a decade before stepping down earlier this year, has named his next move – Co-President, Co-Owner, and Chief Operating Officer of a national broadcast group operating five television networks.

In his new role, Padrón will oversee day-to-day operations across Get After It Media’s portfolio, which includes Retro TV, The Heartland Network, Rev’n, The Family Channel, and The Action Channel. Collectively, the company’s networks reach more than 88 million homes through 353 affiliates in over 100 U.S. markets.

Padrón’s move follows a high-profile tenure at Meruelo Media, where he expanded the company’s radio and television holdings, including the acquisition of Los Angeles rock station KLOS 95.5 from Cumulus Media. Earlier in his career, Padrón served as Senior Vice President of Programming at Univision Television Network, managing more than $500 million in domestic programming assets.

Beyond his media career, Padrón also completed 38 years of service in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Deputy Division Commander of the 91st Wild West Division.

“I’m excited to join Get After It Media at such a pivotal time,” Padrón said. “GAIM has a proud legacy and a powerful portfolio of brands that engage and uplift. Together, we’ll build a next-generation media company that is rooted in content that connects, platforms that inspire, and partnerships that thrive. The future is bright and we are just getting started.”

Under the company’s new structure, GAIM Founder and President Joel Wertman will assume the roles of Co-President and Chief Executive Officer while retaining his position as Chairman of the Board. “Otto is the right man at the right time for our company,” Wertman said. “His achievements across the media landscape and his ability to lead with vision, integrity, and purpose make him uniquely qualified for this moment.”
