PEACOCK goes Grande for FIFA WORLD CUP QATAR 2022™ in Miami & New York
November 22, 2022
Peacock is channeling fan fervor for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ to New York City and Miami with a larger-than-life responsive soccer ball and free viewing events open to the public throughout next week’s group stage matches.
For each goal, the 33-foot-tall ball will light up in the team colors of the country which scored, accompanied by audio of Telemundo Deportes’ Andres Cantor’s legendary “Goool” call. Televisions will be set up for fans to watch the day’s matches live on Telemundo and Peacock, which will present every match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ live in Spanish. After the matches are over, fans on-site will have the opportunity to interact with the installation by lighting the ball up in the colors of the country they support.
The ball will first be on display in New York City on Monday, Nov. 21 at the North Plaza of Rockefeller Center. It will be active for Monday’s 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET matches, including the United States’ first match of the tournament v. Wales (2 p.m. ET on Telemundo and Peacock).
Following its debut in NYC, the ball will travel to Miami, where the celebration will continue at the Wynwood Marketplace from Friday, Nov. 25-Sunday, Nov. 27. The event will be open for the 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET matches, including Saturday’s Argentina v. Mexico match (2 p.m. ET on Telemundo and Peacock). Below is the match schedule during event days.
“The World Cup is the largest sporting event in the world, and – in addition to streaming all 64 games live in Spanish on Peacock – we wanted to create something that matches that outsized excitement for fans,” said Jo Fox, SVP, Brand Marketing, Peacock. “Our giant responsive soccer ball is designed to tap into the thrill of watching the World Cup in Spanish, allowing fans to share the exhilaration of cheering on their favorite teams.”
Telemundo Deportes, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the tournament, will present live coverage of all 64 matches of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, including 56 matches on Telemundo and eight matches on Universo due to simultaneous kickoffs. Click here for full details around coverage.
