Pedro Infante’s most acclaimed films now available for broadcast in USA.

Veranda Entertainment announced the distribution of the Peliculas Rodriguez and Cinematografica Rodriguez film catalogs for television in the U.S. This will be the first time that the films are available for television in the U.S for over a decade. The combined catalogs consist of over 300 films, some of which are considered seminal to the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, like ‘Nosotros los Pobres’ and ‘A Toda Maquina’.

Pedro Alonzo, Veranda’s President commented: “The Rodriguez’s catalogs include several films considered to be among the top 100 films ever made in Mexico, as well as the coveted ‘Pedro Infante Collection,’ featuring Mexico‚s greatest idol in 23 of his most accomplished films.”

The Rodriguez’s catalogs have been broadcast on Televisa for over 50 years and they are an integral part of Televisa’s domestic film strategy. In the past, the Rodriguez‚s films were broadcast in the U.S. by Univision and by Telemundo.

The catalogs‚ list of highlights is endless, including Jorge Negrete in ‘Ay Jalisco No te Rajes’, Maria Felix and Pedro Armendariz in ‘La Bandida’, Dolores del Rio in ‘La Cucaracha’ and films by comedians Resortes and Tin Tan. The catalogs also include 10 films starring the celebrated Mexican luchador El Santo. Most of the catalogs‚ films – directed and produced by Ismael and Roberto Rodriguez, a team of brothers that helped forge Mexico’s Golden Age – have been digitally re-mastered.

Jeff Baker, Warner Home Video’s Executive VP and General Manager, Theatrical Catalog, stated, “The addition of Pedro Infante to the gallery of legendary film stars at Warner Home Video has been key in our efforts to enhance our theatrical catalog library with world-class films and bring these timeless classics to fans and new audiences in the US. We’re looking forward to 2010 when we will be releasing for the first time a full collector’s set of the entire Pedro Infante Collection that includes all 23 films. This unique collection will be one of several DVD event releases next year showcasing films from legendary stars such as Clint Eastwood, Errol Flynn, Elvis Presley and Humphrey Bogart.”
