Love and laughs are the name of the game with the Telemundo premiere of “Pobre Pablo” (Poor Pablo), an offbeat novela featuring a charming new character you’ll never forget. “Pobre Pablo!” is a phrase viewers will be uttering each time they see the confident, strong Pablo transformed into a clumsy oaf in the face of love. “Pobre Pablo,” a fresh new, Colombian-style approach to novelas, is a moving love story full of touching moments, bursts of humor and thrilling action sequences. “Pobre Pablo” premieres this coming Monday, July 8th, 2002 and will air every Monday to Friday at 12:00 pm ET/PT.
Pablo (Roberto Cano) makes his living as a handsome bodyguard for the rich and famous. He thought it was the perfect way to make a living and enjoy a little adventure at the same time. And then he met María Alcalá (Carolina Acevedo) and his life is literally transformed into something out of a Hollywood movie. What he thought would be a simple summer fling with the beautiful and rich young woman after saving her from a gang of drunks, turns out to be far more complicated. His wedding plans with his girlfriend Cindy (Valentina Rendón), his work and his whole life are all about to change drastically.
Pablo starts to fall in love with María not knowing she’s engaged to another man (Alejandro Martínez) who unlike Pablo, can offer her the kind of comfortable life she’s accustomed to. That’s when Pablo decides to pass himself off as a socialite in an effort to keep the romance alive. But Pablo is not the only one risking it all to keep the relationship going. María is also willing to give it all up to stay with Pablo.
Despite their love, a tragic misunderstanding splits the couple apart, forcing Pablo to reveal his true modest background. He tries to convince Maria to stay together and live in a world where social differences mean nothing; a world where only the two of them, and their love, matter
