April 18, 2005
Premios Fox Sports, Fox Sports en Español’s signature annual awards show honoring U.S. Hispanic and Latin American athletes and teams, won “best foreign-language program” honors at the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications’ (NAMIC) 11th Annual Vision Awards. The winner was announced at a private reception Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
“We are immensely proud of the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve received for our one-of-a-kind, annual Premios Fox Sports and are honored to be recognized by NAMIC,” said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Sports en Español. “This award recognizes the hard work and dedication of dozens of individuals that bring Premios Fox Sports to life each year. It is especially gratifying to receive this honor for our inaugural awards show, as it validates our relentless commitment to not only deliver the most relevant original sports programming available but also invest in ground-breaking initiatives that accurately and positively convey the countless contributions Latinos are making in the world of sports.”
First held in 2003, Premios Fox Sports, the network’s annual sports awards show, celebrates the contributions and accomplishments of U.S. Hispanic and Latin American athletes, both on and off the field. The first and only awards show of its type, Premios Fox Sports is produced annually in Miami Beach, Florida, and transmitted to more than 22 million households across the United States and Latin America. The 3rd Annual Premios Fox Sports will take place in December 2005.
The NAMIC Vision Awards is the only industry event of its kind to honor cable television entities that have demonstrated a commitment to producing quality, multi-ethnic and cross-cultural programming content. The Vision Awards are judged by professionals from the entertainment industry, media, education and civic community. In addition to foreign-language, categories include comedy, drama, music and variety, news and information, children’s programming, documentary and comedic and dramatic performance.
