Radio Advertising Bureau Minority Radio Training Academy.

Applications for the FastStart to Radio Sales Success Minority Scholarship program from the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and BMI are being accepted through December 31st for review by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

A total of twenty-five minority scholarships will be awarded for a full session of intense sales training at the RAB Radio Training Academy in Dallas, Texas. Recipients will be announced at RAB2002, the Radio Sales Management & Leadership Conference at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, February 7 to 10.

The Scholarship Committee of 13 Radio industry professionals is reviewing applications and will award scholarships based on various criteria including ethnicity of applicant, overall need, applicant’s enthusiasm toward a career in Radio sales and recommendations from professional associates. Candidates may apply online at www.rab.com or call RAB’s Member Services at 800-232-3131 to request a faxed copy.

The FastStart Scholarship Selection Committee, which consists of industry professionals who share an interest in the ethnic diversity of radio, includes: Emmis’ Debbie Bryant, Information Network Radio’s John Douglas, Nassau Media Partners’ Joan Gerberding, BMI’s John Shaker, ABC Radio Networks’ Tami Honesty, R&R Editor-In-Chief Ron Rodrigues, Hispanic Broadcasting’s Gary Stone, Interep’s Sherman Kizart, Albany Broadcasting’s Al Vicente, Katz Urban Dimensions’ Mary Ware, Radio One’s Anthony Washington, Priority Records’ Kelly Woo and the RAB’s Tiffiney Wyatt.

The RAB Radio Training Academy provides on-site training and sales marketing skills that allows new salespeople to accelerate their early progress and build a foundation for long-term success in the Radio industry. Classroom and interactive sessions last a full week, but the actual training experience continues long after with ongoing faculty-student contact, periodic appraisals and additional opportunities for advanced training after graduation.
