Results of AdMedia Partners’ 2009 Media M&A Survey.

AdMedia Partners’ Prospects for Media Mergers and Acquisitions offers findings that clearly reflect the difficult environment in which media, and the larger economy, is operating as we begin the new year. Not surprisingly, you will find that most respondents expect M&A activity to be considerably reduced from 2008.

However, not all is doom and gloom. The slowdown will benefit strategic buyers, who rely less on debt to complete a transaction than financial buyers. A solid majority of media executives (63%) expect to complete an acquisition in 2009, no doubt because of the number of attractive buying opportunities in the market. There has understandably been a dramatic increase in the recommendation for buyers to “act now.”
