Yahoo! en español announced the promotion of Jose Rivera-Font to Assistant General Manager, North Latin America. In his new capacity, Rivera Font will be responsible for the development and management of the operations of Yahoo! en español and Yahoo! México. Rivera Font will report to Jorge Consuegra, General Manager for Yahoo! North Latin America.
“Over the past four years, Jose has demonstrated superior strategic skills and leadership abilities in his capacity as business development manager,” said Consuegra. “His solid track record makes him an invaluable member of our senior management team, and places him in an ideal position to help meet the challenges of our fast-growing business.”
Prior to his promotion, Rivera Font held the position of business development manager, where he was responsible for developing partnerships with leading brands and to help make Yahoo! en español a leading Spanish-language Internet portal in the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets. Among other accomplishments, Rivera Font was involved in the successful agreement with Fox Pan American Sports to host a co-branded sports site between Yahoo! en español and Fox Sports en Español. He also has helped build Yahoo! en español’s content portfolio through a number of agreements with media companies such as “La Opinion,” “El Nuevo Día,” “La Raza,” and Lavox.com.

Prior to joining Yahoo! en español in 2000, Rivera Font was the channel marketing manager at UDV, a unit of Diageo PLC. He helped develop a marketing function, which provided an understanding of the take-home channel structure, market trends, consumer insights and purchasing dynamics. From 1997 to 1998, Rivera-Font also served as the associate marketing manager for AquaFina, leveraging the Pepsi-Cola infrastructure and marketing know-how to create a mainstream recognizable brand. Additionally, he held a number of marketing positions in the Pepsi Company from 1995-1998.
