Movida Communications, Inc. announced that it has named wireless telecommunications veteran Michael Robinson to the post of CEO, effective September 10, 2007. This announcement comes just three weeks after Movida announced $40 million in additional funds to continue to fuel Movida’s significant growth in providing prepaid wireless services to Hispanic consumers.

Robinson contributed to the development and growth of Motricity, one of the largest mobile content distribution companies in the industry, located in Durham, NC. Previously he was instrumental in leading the development and implementation of Sprint’s Vision strategy from 2002 – 2005 in his role as Senior Vice President – Product Realization. From 2000 – 2002, Robinson led Sprint’s national wireless subsidiary in Mexico, Pegaso, as Chief Operating Officer, prior to its acquisition by Telefonica. Prior to that he was the VP/GM of the Sprint PCS Network Division where he led the ongoing growth and operation of Sprint’s wireless network.
