August 7, 2004
PepsiCo announced that Al Bru, chairman and chief executive officer of Frito-Lay, will retire in February. He has been appointed vice chairman, effective immediately, and will continue reporting to chairman and chief executive officer Steve Reinemund.
Irene Rosenfeld, former president of Kraft Foods’ North American business, has been named Bru’s successor as chairman and chief executive officer of Frito-Lay, PepsiCo’s $9 billion-plus snack and convenient foods division. The division is comprised of two principal businesses—Salty Snacks and Convenience Foods—with brands that include Lay’s, Doritos, Fritos, Rold Gold, Tostitos and Quaker. Rosenfeld will report to Reinemund.
