Rossana Rosado Honor With Women’s City Club Of NY ‘Civic Spirit Awards’.

Among the honorees is Rossana Rosado, publisher and CEO of el diario/LA PRENSA, the first Latina, and one of the few women in this country, to hold the key position of publisher of a major newspaper. She is VP of Public Affairs at the Health & Hospitals Corporation of NYC. As Public Service Director of “Best Talk in Town” (WPIX), she was responsible for creating and placing hundreds of public service announcements on the air. Presentation will be made by Alair Townsend, publisher of Crains New York Business and a former NYC Deputy Mayor for Finance and Economic Development. A Civic Spirit honoree in 2000, Ms. Townsend is a Women’s City Club member.

The Women’s City Club of New York, founded in 1915, is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit advocate organization working to make New York City a better place by shaping public policy and encouraging citizen involvement in government. The WCC is known for attracting pathfinders from the community, including the fields of law, social work, finance, education, publishing, broadcasting, and government.

The organization’s dual purposes–education and advocacy–are sustained by research, study and debate.
