RUMBO Newspapers Unveils New Strategy.

RUMBO newspapers has announced a refocused strategy to grow its network of Texas Spanish-language newspapers. Elements of the new strategy include free distribution on the streets and home delivery, revised publishing days and increased circulation numbers in response to advertisers’ requests. RUMBO is suspending its Austin edition to concentrate resources on strengthening its presence in Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley. These markets are identified as the most important for the growth of the chain and represent three of the top 10 Hispanic markets in the country.

Under the new model, effective April 3, RUMBO will publish three times a week with a unique new content format in Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley, tailored to meet the needs of readers and advertisers. RUMBO will publish Houston and San Antonio editions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the Rio Grande Valley edition on Fridays. This shift includes an increase in daily circulation numbers and a switch to free circulation via home delivery and city-wide rack distribution.
