August 19, 2007
Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) announced that its Chicago owned radio station, La Ley 107.9 FM, delivered a Corvette previously owned by a popular Mexican regional recording artist, Juan Rivera, to representatives of Maribel Nava Alvarez. Ms. Nava Alvarez’s name was selected in a drawing held on July 4, 2005 but was unable to receive the Corvette because of certain requirements. Those obstacles were overcome through the cooperative efforts of La Ley 107.9 FM and Ms. Nava Alvarez.
“Our company has always served the best interests of our Hispanic listeners – SBS has loyal listeners and a great fan base. We want to thank them for their continued support,” stated Marko Radlovic, EVP & COO of SBS. “Our radio waves will continue to be used for the benefit of the entire Hispanic community, including all Hispanic immigrants regardless of their status,” Radlovic further stated.
Another former contestant of Idolo de La Ley will also receive recognition. Ernesto Hurtado, who earned top honors in Idolo de La Ley, a radio singing competition, was pleased with the opportunity given to him by the contest held by La Ley 107.9 FM, a regional Mexican SBS radio station in Chicago. “I am very pleased and satisfied with SBS and I want to express my sincere thanks to La Ley,” continued Hurtado, “I have always been a loyal listener and a great fan of this station and I am very thankful to them. La Ley esta con la raza siempre.”
“Our mission and commitment is to serve the Hispanic community. We fulfill that mission by providing news and entertainment to the Hispanic community, both on La Ley 107.9 FM and soon on our Mega TV television programming through DirecTV, and through our community events that benefit our listeners. We know our audience is very aware of these efforts and as such I want to take the opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for their loyalty,” concluded Mr. Radlovic.
