Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) and 93.3 La Raza (KRZZ) in San Francisco announced that they will be holding a radiothon to raise funds in support of the Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland. The radiothon will take place on Friday, July 31 and run through Sunday, August 2 with live broadcasts from the Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland, the local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
It is a great feeling of satisfaction to know we are helping support the children in our community
One hundred percent of the funds raised through this event will support healthcare services at Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland. La Raza’s popular and well-known DJ’s and talent, including Los Hijos de la Bahia and Charito Martinez, will be on hand to entertain and encourage listeners to make a donation to the hospital.
“This is Children’s Hospital’s very first Spanish-language radiothon, and everyone from the staff to our patients are excited to have the professional and fun team from La Raza at our hospital,” said Tina Evans, Director, Children’s Miracle Network. “We appreciate the leadership from SBS and La Raza in this tremendous effort and want to thank everyone in advance who lent their support and made a donation to Children’s Hospital.”
“It is a great feeling of satisfaction to know we are helping support the children in our community,” said Jesse Portillo, Program Director at 93.3 La Raza. “Everyone at La Raza is eagerly anticipating the radiothon and we’ve been coming up with dozens of ideas to help raise awareness, put smiles on the faces of all the kids and show our gratitude to the staff at the hospital for all the hard work they do each and every day. Our listeners always do whatever they can to support such a worthy cause, and we know they’ll be with us throughout this important event.”
Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland receives over 200,000 patient visits each year. Approximately 30 percent of the patients of Children’s Hospital Oakland are Latino, and close to 50 percent of the hospital’s leukemia patients are Latino. The Radiothon Para Nuestros Ninos (Radiothon for our Kids) event will raise awareness and support for Children’s on-going services. Listeners will hear patients and their families tell firsthand stories of strength and healing and of the family-centered support and care offered at Children’s Hospital Oakland.
