SBS In The Bay Area With ‘La Raza’.
October 22, 2004
With Spanish Broadcasting System’s recent acquisition of KRZZ 93.3 FM (formerly KBAA-FM) on Saturday, November 20, 2004 staff members flipped the switch in the Bay Area.
The new station is called “93-3 La Raza”, and modeled after SBS’s highly successful KLAX “La Raza” in Los Angeles. The station will feature a wide variety of banda, nortenas, ranchera music.
“93-3 La Raza” is aimed at young adults 20 to 40 years of age, and will feature Renan Almendarez Coello, “El Cucuy de la Manana”, beginning Monday morning. Not heard in the Bay Area since last February, El Cucuy was #1 in the market in his afternoon time slot (Adults 25-54, 3-7 PM, Arbitron Winter 2004). The station’s sign on contest offers the first ten listeners who call and get Renan 933 dollars each.
