SBS’s WXDJ-FM In Miami Fined For Fidel Castro Call.

According to Radio & Records, even though Cuban dictator Fidel Castro didn’t complain about WXDJ’s phone scam – somebody else did.

And it will cost the SBS-owned Miami station a $3,500 phone fine. The FCC reiterates its opinion that it will accept a third-party complaint for a violation of the phone-notification rule – and refuses to disclose who filed the complaint. But in terms of publicity — WXDJ got more than its money’s worth from the June 2003 morning show hoax .
