Shakira Helps Launch V CAST.

V-CAST, a new product of Verizon Wireless and dubbed the next generation of wireless technology, is making it possible for Hispanics to move to the beat of the hottest Latin pop star and crossover artist, Shakira. Verizon Wireless is launching the new technology into the Hispanic market with exclusive Shakira content in their new, captivating TV spot, “The Tic.” The new V-CAST technology enables users to download music videos, news, sports and video games with broadband speed and quality. With more than 300 clips updated daily, there is always something cool to watch on V CAST.

The spot airdate is August 29 on Hispanic TV.

“Our partnership with Shakira’s label lets us offer the Hispanic market exclusive relevant content,” said Oscar Madrid, Director of Multicultural Marketing, Verizon Wireless. “For a limited time, Verizon Wireless V CAST customers will be the only ones who can download Shakira’s latest music video ‘La Tortura.’ Most importantly, the campaign demonstrates our continued commitment to put the kind of entertainment that people love right at their fingertips.”

The concept for the thirty-second spot feeds into the infatuation with Shakira’s unique style of movement. In the commercial, V CAST subscribers—who are people from all walks of life—unconsciously try to imitate her signature dance moves, much to the chagrin of those around them. But the message is clear: your cell phone can be your entertainment connection to one of the most popular artists in the world.

“What we liked about developing the new spot is how we were able to take a cool, viral idea and match it up with the reigning Latin pop queen,” said Chris Campos, GlobalHue executive vice president/director of client services-Hispanic. “Anyone watching the spot is immediately enthralled by her energy. We think that energy will translate into a whole new market of V CAST subscribers.”

GlobalHue’s creative team included Ricardo Trejo, vice president and creative director; Carlos Montaño, creative director; Migdalia Colon, creative supervisor; Lorena Vogeler, art director; Nettie Marquez, executive producer; Pablo Martina, director; Yvette Pyneiro, editor; and Danny Freiberg, music & sound design. The production company was Energy Productions.
