¡Sí! The New American Workforce Scholarship and Internship Program.

A novel initiative combining scholarships and internships with employment opportunities for Latinos has been launched jointly by the ASPIRA Association, Inc. and Educational Testing Service (ETS). The initiative addresses the private sector need to identify talent and the needs of Latino and other students for programs carrying them from college to good jobs.

¡Sí! The New American Workforce Scholarship and Internship Program is a national program that seeks to increase corporate sponsorship of scholarships and internships to identify and develop talented college students for the workforce. It is intended to increase the number of Latino and other minority students who enter and remain in college and who successfully transition from college into the corporate world.

“We are delighted to join with ETS in such an initiative,” says Ronald Blackburn-Moreno, President and CEO of Washington, D.C.-based, ASPIRA. “Our national network of affiliates and other relationships will help us identify top students to apply for the scholarships and internships, and Scholarship & Recognition Programs at ETS, drawing on 50 years of experience, will administer the program.”

“For the private sector this is a cost-effective operation that helps companies develop and later employ high-quality employees,” says Bill McCambley, Director of Scholarship & Recognition Programs at ETS. “It establishes a learning platform that promotes strong employee relationships, increases loyalty and allows employers to observe performance.”
