SiboneyUSA celebrates 55 Years in Hispanic Communications.

SiboneyUSA commemorates 55 years of diligent work as advertising leaders across Latin America and the United States.

SiboneyUSA was founded in Havana, Cuba in 1953. Since then, founder, Jose M. Cubas, has built an advertising empire expanding across Latin America and the U.S. After leaving Cuba in 1960, Cubas’ Latin American network broke ground in Puerto Rico (1963), expanded to Venezuela (1967), the Dominican Republic (1969), Guatemala (1972), Costa Rica (1972), Panama (1972), Brazil (1974), Ecuador (1978) and Colombia (1979).

Cubas sold the LatAm network to Foote, Cone & Belding and continued to thrive on his entrepreneurial spirit by establishing SiboneyUSA in New York (1983). Cubas’ vision for his U.S. network derived from one simple principle: his passion to develop result-driven communications to help build Hispanic market brand leaders. This advertising visionary was ahead of his time when he focused on the need to target the growing U.S. Hispanic population, and what that represented in purchasing power. He then opened offices in Dallas (1990), Miami (1993) and Los Angeles (1997) to better serve his growing client roster.

After divesting its West coast offices, SiboneyUSA continues to successfully serve its clients with full service agencies in New York and Miami: offering strategic planning, creative and production, media planning and buying, public relations, promotions and events, direct marketing and interactive. Blue chip clients include Colgate-Palmolive – a client of more than 40 years, MilkPEP (Milk Processors Education Program) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, among others.

55 Years of Achievement and Recognition

On the year of Siboney’s Emerald anniversary, it’s worth highlighting some of the agency’s accomplishments in its continuous effort to break ground in U.S. Hispanic market communications. SiboneyUSA was honored with the first CLIO awarded in the U.S. Hispanic market for the Pepsi “Drummer Boy” TV commercial (1987). Since then, the agency has continued to position itself as a communications powerhouse by consecutively winning Mercury Awards for its public relations campaigns and HispanicAd.com Awards for excellence in media planning .

“On the 55th anniversary of Siboney’s founding, I beam with pride in knowing that our work as an agency has not only properly served our clients, but has also positively impacted the Hispanic market with the iconic campaigns that we have helped produce,” said Jose M. Cubas, President and CEO. “And I wish to thank all the “Siboneyers” past and present, who have been a part of our journey, as we look forward to continuing to develop successful, cutting-edge integrated communication campaigns for our clients,” he concluded.
