“The idea is to reward our fans and fill in a gap that was evident for quite some time,” said Borja Perez, Senior VP of Digital & Social Media. “They’re hungry for more control over the content they see, and that is driving everything we are doing in social media. As original content producers, we have led in social content co-creation and social TV in the US Hispanic space. ‘Secreteando’ is an excellent example of how to allow our fans to interact with the TV content in a way that makes them part of the whole experience.”
“Secreteando’s” storyline evolves strategically across a variety of social media platforms, each with a specific and complementary role. The Telemundo channel in YouTube houses video content, including trailers and episodes. Facebook is the primary engagement platform, distributing all videos and behind-the-scenes content. The interaction on Twitter (@secreteando) provides an interactive experience driven through content, exclusive sneak peeks and conversation around relevant trending topics. In addition, one of the characters has a presence on Twitter (@SoyLaViva), which provides a secondary angle to the storyline. Behind-the-scenes photo content will be distributed via Instagram (@Secreteando); while Pinterest will have thematic content available aligned to the novela’s storyline and plot turning points. The grand finale will take place on Google+, at a Google hangout where the main actors will reveal surprise elements and the story outcome. Viewers can access the Telemundo Web/Mobile hub where all social media activity feeds will be available in one portal.
All cast members and special guests of “Secreteando” were identified based on their social following. This social media casting strategy helped fuel an already high number of blog posts and develop new property-based fan clubs, adding more power to the already viral nature of the project.
How far would you go to get the job of your dreams? In “Secreteando,” everything is fair game. The story follows the drama and jealousy taking place daily at MUS, a record label office where all the main characters are executive assistants. When the head of the music label is fired, everyone starts vying for the position of Executive Assistant to the new “mystery boss.” This newly open position sparks competition, envy, broken friendships and rumors. “Viewsers” will get a chance to vote via social media platforms on which character gets the position, while the “mystery boss” is finally revealed in the last episode.
