Southern California’s W Radio 690 AM Signs with Chivas USA.

W Radio (XEWW 690 AM) in Southern California has signed with Chivas USA to carry their games live throughout the year.

“Signing with Chivas USA makes sense for both the radio station and Chivas soccer. Since we started W Radio 690 AM we have provided live soccer to our listeners and feel we have accomplished to be the choice for live soccer in Southern California”, said Juan Pablo Alvarez, CEO of GLR North America. “Now we are giving our soccer audience a choice of two very exciting teams, Chivas de Guadalajara and Chivas USA, and we are hopeful that once they tune in to an individual game they will stay for the next”, added Alvarez.

Chivas USA is the defending Western Conference Champion and has come into this season with some very notable statistics from last year. Chivas USA set a club record in wins (15), points (53), and goals scored (48) and fewest goals allowed (28). The Red-and-White protected their Home Depot Center turf magnificently as well and finished with a league-best 10-1-4 home record and allowed a stingy eight goals in those games.

W Radio 690 AM will begin carrying the games this Sunday as Chivas take on FC Dallas at 12:00 pm followed by the home opener on April 4, 2008 at the Home Depot Center against Real Salt Lake at 7:30 pm. The Chivas USA also come with a one hour broadcast every Thursday from 6-7pm live on 690 AM featuring news and game updates.

Chivas USA also announced that it has re-signed fan favorite Francisco ‘Panchito’ Mendoza for Chivas USA’s 2008 MLS campaign. The 22-year-old midfielder is Chivas USA’s all-time leader in games and minutes played for the team. Mendoza is also a Chivas USA Original, having been with the club since the organization’s first season in 2005. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
