Southwest Airlines’ Cielito Lindo.

Southwest Airlines found a unique way to celebrate it with Customers and Employees. The Company is inviting everyone to come together on September 16th and sing “Cielito Lindo” (Lovely Sky) Southwest Airlines’ style.

On that day, in specific markets, Southwest Flight Attendants and Crew will lead passengers in flight, at airport gates and airport ticket counters to join in and sing along.

This is the way Southwest Airlines, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, found to show their respect and appreciation for the Hispanic community.

This is the first time that the Company is involving so many people in the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. And to be in harmony for the occasion, Southwest Airlines Employees across the country have been rehearsing “Cielito Lindo” the last couple of weeks. The Company also invited their employees to upload their own videos, showing how they celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. “Singing Cielito Lindo was the way we found to celebrate the occasion but we would love to learn how our employees are celebrating at home and with their families and friends,” said Patty Herbeck, Southwest Airlines’ Manager of National Strategic Partnerships. “At Southwest we appreciate Hispanics’ rich cultural heritage and have a passion for the language, the music and the customs”, she added.

The idea was developed by Southwest Airlines’ advertising agency, Dieste, based on the philosophy and culture of its client. “Songs have the power to unite and bring people together in a similar way Southwest Airlines does,” said Aldo Quevedo, CCO and President of Dieste. “Songs work across all individuals and you don’t have to be Hispanic to understand the melody or to join the celebration”.
