Spanish Broadcasting System Could Have Another FM In Los Angeles.

According to Radio & Records, “Spanish Broadcasting System’s KFSB & KFSG/Los Angeles, a simulcast at 93.5 FM, are currently being operated via a time brokerage agreement by the International Foursquare Church as part of the Church’s $250 million sale to SBS of KXOL/L.A. If the TBA isn’t extended after it expires March 1, 2003, SBS will resume day-to-day control. In fact, SBS has a “ready-made format ready to go,” Chairman/CEO Raul Alarcon Jr. said during yesterday’s Q3 conference call. “We’ve identified a format, and we believe there is a music hole in Los Angeles that enables us to inaugurate a third Spanish format in that market,” Alarcon said. SBS is also in talks with Infinity to relocate KFSG’s transmitter from Redondo Beach to the Torrance-based tower for KNX/Los Angeles, located eight miles to the north. Such a move would result in expenses of less than $100,000 for SBS and would involve a standard long-term lease with Infinity.”
