Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) announced that it was initiating relief efforts to support the victims affected by the 7.9 (Richter scale) earthquake that hit the coast of Peru on August 15th. SBS will use WSBS MEGA TV Channel 22, El Zol 95.7, Romance 106.7 and Clásica 92.3, to broadcast public announcements that encourage members of the South Florida community to make donations to the relief fund that is being organized by the Peruvian Consulate. To date, the earthquake has resulted in the tragic deaths of more than 500 people while injuring more than 1500.
In addition, the “Jaime Bayly Show” which airs on MEGA TV Channel 22 from Monday to Friday at 10:00 PM, will broadcast up to the minute information about the earthquake and its victims. Javier Ceriani, host from the Clasica 92.3 show “Zona Cero”, will also support these relief efforts by participating in an event organized by the Chamber of Commerce at Milander Park in Hialeah.
The donation centers will be receiving tarps, canned food, candles, flashlights, blankets, coats and other winter clothes, clothes for kids, diapers, medicine, and first aid supplies such as medical bandages, band-aids, gauze, and antibiotic ointments.
